2024 was not a great year for the automobile industry, particularly not in Europe. It wasn’t a great year for the European economy overall, particularly not in Portugal. And yet, here we are, 2024 Calypex was founded in Portugal to make the coolest off road cars ever. All it took was two madmen meeting in a small village named Velas, part of Guarda in Portugal’s North East, near the border to Spain. Here, where nature rules and locals have to respect it, life offers a more inspiring depth than the urban rat race. No wonder, Calypex starts in the Serra da Estrela. A car made to bring you from A to B without excuses, overcoming the challenges of the unbeaten path.

The concept of Calypex is refreshingly different: a reliable car without any unnecessary complications to go off road and off grid. A car so radically simple, that it will last no matter what, is easy to fix, or, as we like to put it: is made to survive a zombie apocalypse. No, we don’t expect a zombie apocalypse but we live in strange times. Isn’t it just tiresome to have to deal with the crazy maintenance and fragility of today’s short lived products, invariably breaking after the warranty expired? Well, not with a Calypex, the “brutal box” that comes with a strict no-nonsense approach to offer true sustainability through total efficiency.
